Michael Waldron, head writer on Season 1 of Marvel’s Loki, has confirmed his replacement for Season 2 of the Disney Plus series.

Loki Season 1 ended on a shocking cliffhanger, the TVA now under the control of Kang the Conqueror, the timeline altered and the multiverse unleashed. Tom Hiddleston’s Loki was seen rushing to Agent Mobius, played by Owen Wilson, only to discover this version of Mobius no longer recognized him. With the TVA, who originally existed to prevent the creation of branch timelines, seemingly robbed of their purpose now that countless realities exist, Season 2 has a lot of questions to answer and hopes to live up to.

Michael Waldron, who wrote Season 1 of the Marvel series, has now confirmed that Season 2 is in capable hands with Eric Martin taking over as head writer. Martin wrote for Season 1 of Loki, so will already be familiar with the series and Marvel’s plans for where its time-twisting story goes next. While previous reports had suggested Martin would be taking over as head writer, this is the first official confirmation from Waldron. While speaking with Digital Spy recently, Waldron revealed:

“Well, I mean, look, everything leads into everything, right? … We’ve hired a couple of great directors. [Justin] Benson and [Aaron] Moorhead [Loki Season 2 directors] are brilliant. And Eric Martin has taken over as head writer for season 2.

“So the creative team is fantastic. As Tom [Hiddleston, who plays Loki] once said, there’s plenty more mischief to come.”

Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, the directors working with Eric Martin on Loki Season 2, have already proved their mettle in the MCU on the latest Marvel Disney Plus series, Moon Knight, of which they directed Episodes 2 and 4.

Here is the synopsis for Season 1 of Loki:

In Marvel Studios’ “Loki,” the mercurial villain Loki (Tom Hiddleston) resumes his role as the God of Mischief in a new series that takes place after the events of “Avengers: Endgame.”

Directed by Kate Herron, with Michael Waldron serving as head writer, the series stars Tom Hiddleston, Sophia Di Martino, Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

The first season of Loki is available on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming season and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
