Promotion for Loki season 2 is starting to kick into high gear. The show’s official synopsis teases a hunt for glorious purpose in a multiverse of possibilities.
The last season of Loki ended on a cliffhanger, with fans only left to speculate where Sylvie ended up after killing He Who Remains, what happened to the TVA, and where Loki and Mobius go from this strange new world. The synopsis for season 2 teases the return of the first season’s cast, along with a new hunt for the meaning of free will and purpose:
“Loki Season 2 picks up in the aftermath of the shocking season finale when Loki finds himself in a battle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority. Along with Mobius, Hunter B-15, and a team of new and returning characters, Loki navigates an ever-expanding and increasingly dangerous Multiverse in search of Sylvie, Judge Renslayer, Miss Minutes, and the truth of what it means to possess free will and glorious purpose.”
Any series that tackles time travel is forced to grapple with the concept of free will and if it exists. While the first season of Loki lightly touched on it, it seems as though this season will be leaning entirely into the titular Trickster’s search for purpose in a brand new multiverse created by Sylvie. Though in truth, it seems as though only one question is on fans’ minds: When is Mobius getting a jet ski?
Who else is attached to Loki season two?
Tom Hiddleston is spearheading the cast of Loki season two as the titular God of Mischief. The cast also includes Owen Wilson, Jonathan Majors, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Tara Strong, Eugene Cordero, Rafael Casal, Kate Dickie, Liz Carr, Ke Huy Quan and Neil Ellice.
Eric Martin replaced Michael Waldron as the head writer of Loki for its second season. Martin and Waldron also serve as executive producers on the series alongside Tom Hiddleston, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead. Benson and Moorhead directed the majority of the episodes for the upcoming season.
