A new trailer for Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power offers a more in-depth look at the kingdoms of Middle-Earth as they prepare for challenges that lay ahead.

Set thousands of years before the events of The Lord of the Rings, The Rings of Power is set to introduce audiences to a very different Middle-Earth, exploring the creation of the titular rings and Sauron’s rise to power.

A new trailer reveals each of the various kingdoms and races that will appear in the series, teasing the coming battle against a returning evil.

‘Choose Not The Path Of Fear’

The new trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power sees Morfyyd Clark’s Galadriel warning of a coming threat.

The trailer sets up Galadriel’s journey through the series, revealing she has taken up her brother’s fight against the forces of darkness after he fell in battle. However, her fellow elves don’t seem convinced there is still a battle to be fought.

While Galadriel appears to be at the heart of the new series, the trailer also offers a look at other peoples of Middle-Earth, including the Harfoots and Dwarves. Various strange creatures and beasts are also seen, including a brief glimpse of the series’ new take on Orcs.

With House of the Dragon now showing on HBO, The Rings of Power will have stiff competition in the realm of TV fantasy. However, the scale promised by the new trailer suggests Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings prequel should have no trouble keeping up with HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel.

Here is the synopsis for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power:

This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness. Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.

Amazon Studios is producing The Rings of Power in cooperation with the Tolkien Estate and Trust, HarperCollins, and New Line Cinema. J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay are serving as showrunners and executive producers on the series.
