Fast and Furious 9 star Ludacris seemingly teased that Dominic Toretto’s crew will head into space during the next sequel.
After years of the internet joking that the Fast and Furious franchise will end up driving cars in space at some point, Ludacris recently teased a trip to space for next year’s Fast and Furious 9. Fans will already know the sequel was delayed by a year due to the coronavirus pandemic, but when it finally arrives in theaters audiences might be treated to an action scene set in orbit if Ludacris’ recent comments are anything to go by.
During an interview with The Jess Cagle Show on SiriusXFM, Ludacris spoke about the future of the franchise and how they’ve used the lockdown to plan future sequels. But when Julia Cunningham joked about making a Fast and Furious film in space, Ludacris surprisingly revealed the host had said something very important. When she asked more about a potential sequence set in space, the star pulled a shocked face and jokingly covered his mouth so he didn’t reveal any spoilers for Fast and Furious 9.
“You just said something very important. I will say that you are very intuitive, cause you said something right, but I’m not going to give it away.”

Here is the official synopsis for Vin Diesel’s Fast and Furious 9.
Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon. This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he’s going to save those he loves most. His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom’s forsaken brother, Jakob (John Cena, next year’s The Suicide Squad).
F9 sees the return of Justin Lin as director, who helmed the third, fourth, fifth and sixth chapters of the series when it transformed into a global blockbuster. The action hurtles around the globe—from London to Tokyo, from Central America to Edinburgh, and from a secret bunker in Azerbaijan to the teeming streets of Tblisi. Along the way, old friends will be resurrected, old foes will return, history will be rewritten, and the true meaning of family will be tested like never before.
Directed Justin Lin from a script written by Daniel Casey, Fast and Furious 9 stars Vin Diesel, John Cena, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Cardi B and Sung Kang, with Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron.
Fast and Furious 9 will be released in theaters on April 2, 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the future of the franchise and be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more video content in the future!
