Our forever King.

Black Panther 2 Lupita Nyong'o Chadwick Boseman

Lupita Nyong’o honored her Black Panther co-star Chadwick Boseman on the anniversary of his passing.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been exactly one year since the untimely passing of Chadwick Boseman. The actor, most recognized worldwide for his portrayal as King T’Challa AKA Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe died of complications from colon cancer on August 28, 2020 after getting diagnosed with Stage III colon cancer in 2016. His illness was kept a private matter as he continued to work as an actor.

As Black Panther: Wakanda Forever continues principal photography, much of the cast and crew are ready to carry on Chadwick Boseman’s legacy, and his co-star Lupita Nyong’o is no exception. In remembrance of him, she shared a photo of a humorous moment they shared together:

Lupita Nyong’o played Nakia, a significant other for Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther. She is set to return to the sequel alongside Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Martin Freeman, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Michaela Coel and Dominique Thorne. Ryan Coogler returns to the director’s chair from a script he co-wrote with Robert Cole.

Here is the synopsis for the first Black Panther film:

After the death of his father, the king of Wakanda, young T’Challa returns home to the isolated high-tech African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king – and Black Panther – is tested when he’s drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, he must release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.

Directed by Ryan Coogler, the film stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis.
