Doctor Strange is the next film on Marvel Studios Phase 3 slate and the film, like most Marvel films, is a bit mysterious. Mads Mikkelsen is playing the villain and details surrounding his characters name have been slim. Mikkelsen has previously described his character as “Not really a baddie, but someone who believes in something else than what Doctor Strange believes in.” So, who exactly is Mads Mikkelsen playing? I’ve got some new details.

I just received a tip that Mads Mikkelsen is playing Kaecilius. Kaecilius is usually a disciple of Baron Mordo in the comics. Although, he could still be a rogue deciple of Mordo’s in the film. Latino Review originally reported that Kaecilius would be the villain of Doctor Strange back in November. The name surfaced on a toy set that will be unveiled to the public very soon. Here’s a look and description for the toys:
Marvel Minimates Series 70 Doctor Strange Movie 2-Pack Asst.
A Diamond Select Toys Release! The next chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is now the next entry in the long-running Marvel Minimates line! Series 70 of Marvel Minimates mini-figures travels to the world of the Doctor Strange movie, with four different two-packs: Dr. Strange with The Ancient One, Mordo with Kaecilius, the specialty-exclusive Stephen Strange with Christine Palmer and the specialty-exclusive Wong & Zealot! Each 2-inch Minimates mini-figure features 14 points of articulation and fully interchangeable parts. Each two-pack is packaged in a full-color window box.
As you can see the toys will be sold in pairs and the pair that has Mads Mikkelsen and Chiwetel Ejiofor’s character clearly states that it is Mordo with Kaecilius. This could very well be a place holder name to avoid spoiling the film on a toy, but it’s safe to say that Mikkelsen is playing a villainous character.
