Has the DC Universe already cast its Brainiac? A recent rumor sheds light on the process of finding the perfect actor for the villain in Man of Tomorrow.
Ever since it was announced that Brainiac would be the villain in Man of Tomorrow (or, heck, even BEFORE it was announced), fans have been wondering who will play the character in the DC Universe. The film is already shaping up to have an absolutely stacked cast and, while there have been a few theories about who will be brought on board, the rumor mill has been largely silent.
It seems that’s because the big bad hasn’t been cast (yet)! Scooper MyTimeToShineHello posted a rumor that people are currently still auditioning for the role of Brainiac. Perhaps shockingly, only three actors in the running for the Man of Tomorrow villain are big names, with the rest being relative unknowns. Given the DC Universe has (so far) leaned into recruiting some big names for their villainous roles, this is certainly an interesting turn.
Who Is Playing Brainiac In Man Of Tomorrow?
Though perhaps the most interesting part of this rumor is that James Gunn won’t be using his familiar roster of actors to play the villain- this in spite of the internet assuming Chukwudi Iwuji was a lock for the role. And with Man of Tomorrow shooting in the summer, it’s likely fans will find out who’s cast as Brainiac early into the new year so pre-production can start in earnest.
As for the frontrunners to be cast as Brainiac, the rumor mill has only spit out a few known names. David Hyde Pierce, Wallace Shawn, and Claes Bang are said to be the three big names left in the Man of Tomorrow audition process. While some fans have wanted Shawn to play Mr. Mxyzptlk in the DC Universe, he would also bring a unique energy to the iconic villain.
