Star Wars star Mark Hamill has responded to the Luke Skywalker casting in the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney Plus series.
It has been an incredibly long road to get to the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series and we still have not reached the end. Up until the first trailer was released, it wasn’t entirely clear which characters were returning from the Prequel trilogy outside of Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker and Joel Edgerton’s Owen Lars. What the trailer made clear, however, was that Luke Skywalker would be involved in the series though obviously not played by Mark Hamill.
In the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, Luke Skywalker will be played by relative newcomer Grant Feely. Feely’s only other credited work was a role in an episode Creepshow. Currently, it is unknown how big or a role the character will have in the show. Mark Hammill took to Twitter in response to the news, calling him a perfect Luke Skywalker and wishing him all the best:
Full plot details on Obi-Wan Kenobi are currently unknown but Lucasfilm has described the Star Wars story as a special event series for Disney Plus. However, we know the series will feature a rematch between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader ten years after Revenge of the Sith and before their final confrontation in A New Hope.
Directed by Deborah Chow from Joby Harold’s scripts, the series stars Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie. The series will also see the return of legendary Star Wars composer John Williams, who scored a theme.
Obi-Wan Kenobi will hit Disney Plus on May 25, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming series and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
