It seems fans aren’t the only ones waiting for a Hulk solo film. Mark Ruffalo reveals what’s holding the Marvel Cinematic Universe back from pulling the trigger on another movie revolving around Bruce Banner.
Mark Ruffalo is one of the biggest faces of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having appeared in multiple film series outside of the Avengers films as the Incredible Hulk. Despite this, he’s still never gotten a solo film all to himself. When asked if the possibility is on the table, Ruffalo admits the film might be too expensive to ever actually make happen.
“I’d love to do a standalone Hulk, I just don’t think that’s ever going to happen,” Ruffalo told GQ. “It’s very expensive if you did a whole movie, which is why they use the Hulk so sparingly. I priced myself out!”
Mark Ruffalo is right about Hulk’s CGI and his supporting cast being expensive. One simply has to look at She-Hulk‘s budget for that! However, it wouldn’t be impossible given the character’s massive pop culture footprint. Though given how bad Ruffalo is at hiding secrets, it’s not likely he’s holding back on any plans!
When can fans expect to see She-Hulk again?
Although there has been no official announcement regarding a second season for She-Hulk, Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters is expected to appear in upcoming Marvel movies like Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and its follow-up Secret Wars. With the MCU exploring the concept of the multiverse in recent projects like Loki and Spider-Man: No Way Home, it’s possible that She-Hulk could make an appearance in different universes or interact with alternate versions of familiar characters.
Created by Stan Lee and John Buscema, She-Hulk first appeared in the pages of Marvel’s Savage She-Hulk #1 in 1979. Also known as Jennifer Walters, She-Hulk is the cousin of Bruce Banner AKA The Hulk and gains her powers after receiving a blood transfusion from him. Unlike Banner, Walters is able to retain her personality and intelligence while transformed into She-Hulk.
Marvel’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law stars Tatiana Maslany, Mark Ruffalo, Tim Roth, Benedict Wong, Ginger Gonzaga, Josh Segarra, Jameela Jamil, Jon Bass and Renée Elise Goldsberry.
