Ahead of his upcoming return as Bruce Banner in She-Hulk, Mark Ruffalo has said he’s ready to get back on the big screen for Marvel in a World War Hulk movie.
First appearing as Bruce Banner in 2012’s The Avengers, Mark Ruffalo has played the character in several crossover appearances, but is yet to take on a solo Hulk movie (the MCU’s only solo movie featuring the character, The Incredible Hulk, starred Edward Norton as Banner). One storyline fans are eager to see adapted is World War Hulk.
Speaking at the She-Hulk premiere, Ruffalo said he’s ready to go on a World War Hulk movie as soon as Marvel calls.
World War Hulk Comes To The MCU
Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, while relegated to a supporting role in various team-up movies, has undergone a compelling character arc during his time in the MCU.
Following the initial distrust between the Bruce Banner and Hulk personae, Hulk and Banner have recently learnt to work together, combining Banner’s mind with the Hulk’s body as seen in Avengers: Endgame. Now though, it may be time for more monstrous Hulk to make a return in a World War Hulk storyline.
Entertainment Tonight spoke to Mark Ruffalo at the She-Hulk premiere, asking about some potential hints at a World War Hulk story in the upcoming Disney Plus series. When asked if he would return for a solo World War Hulk movie, Ruffalo said “Any time they want to do it, I’m here.”
Marvel’s World War Hulk comic event followed the Planet Hulk storyline, elements of which were adapted for the MCU in Thor: Ragnarok. It saw the Hulk returning to Earth and turning on his fellow heroes.
While Universal currently holds the distribution rights for any standalone Hulk movies, which has previously prevented Marvel Studios from working on solo projects featuring Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, the advent of Disney Plus could see World War Hulk adapted as a series for the streaming service.
Here is the synopsis for the next MCU project to feature Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law:
“She-Hulk: Attorney at Law follows Jennifer Walters as she navigates the complicated life of a single, 30-something attorney who also appens to be a green 6-foot-7-inch superpowered hulk.”
The series stars Tatiana Maslany, Mark Ruffalo, Tim Roth, Benedict Wong, Ginger Gonzaga, Josh Segarra, Jameela Jamil, Jon Bass, and Renée Elise Goldsberry.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law premieres on August 18th on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming series, and subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
