Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb is once again explaining how Marvel’s television shows are handling the dramatic events of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War.
While Marvel’s shows have included plenty of easter eggs and references confirming their place within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the latest (and final) seasons of Luke Cage and Iron Fist, as well as the recently released third season of Daredevil have ignored the events of Infinity War due to one simple fact: they take place before Thanos snapped half of the universe out of existence.
Speaking with Comicbook.com, Loeb explained that Marvel chose to place the newest seasons of their Netflix shows prior to the ending of Infinity War in order to prevent any chance of spoiling what the studio has plans for in the upcoming untitled fourth Avengers film:
“Specifically to that [The Snap], what we’ve said is that only we don’t want to spoil what’s in Avengers 4. Our story comes out before then so in that particular case, when there’s something that cataclysmic, we’ve said that our story takes place before The Snap.”
Daredevil Season 3 stars Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Vincent D’Onofrio, Wilson Bethel, Jay Ali, and Lesley Ann Warren. Here’s the official synopsis:
Missing for months, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) reemerges a broken man, putting into question his future as both vigilante Daredevil and lawyer Matthew Murdock. But when his archenemy Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) is released from prison, Matt must choose between hiding from the world, or embracing his destiny as a hero.
Daredevil Season 3 is now streaming on Netflix. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the future of the Netflix corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we learn it.
