Is Marvel already casting the X-Men? The latest report reveals new details about the franchise’s upcoming reboot for the MCU.
Ever since it was revealed that Marvel would be doing a fresh reboot of the X-Men for the MCU, the internet has been awash with speculation about who will be cast as the iconic mutants. While one can find almost any actor of any age cast as any mutant, there has been one common theme throughout much of the most popular rumors: the actors are skewing rather young.
And unlike most things in the rumor space, this tendency might actually be based in reality. The latest report from Variety revealed that Marvel is aiming to cast younger actors in the upcoming reboot. However, this isn’t for any thematic reason. Rather, the studio is hoping to keep costs low by casting relatively unknown actor’s in the franchise’s MCU revitalization.
Who Will Be Cast In The X-Men Reboot?
Even though most of the actors Marvel is bringing onto the X-Men will be on the less-popular end of things, that doesn’t mean that there won’t be familiar faces. It’s likely that some B-List TV talent will be making their silver screen debut as some of the marquee characters. In addition, an A-List actor will likely be cast as the villain to help promote the MCU reboot.
Given how much the budget for actors has inflated over the past decade, this is a smart move. If the X-Men are being positioned as the next pillar for the MCU, Marvel wouldn’t want to pay too much for the first installment of the reboot. Actors will only be asking for more and more cash as the franchise goes on, meaning any number they accept now will eventually be compounded tenfold.
