The MCU is shaking up Doctor Doom’s origin! A rumor for Avengers: Doomsday suggests the villain may have a personal score to settle.
While it’s been a hard journey, fans have generally come to accept that Avengers: Doomsday will be taking some massive liberties with Doctor Doom in order to provide a satisfying conclusion to the Multiverse Saga. However, that has left all eyes on the rumor mill to provide any scoops about how is origin might be changed for the MCU.
And it seems that yet another rumor has come out claiming to have the scoop on Doctor Doom’s new origin. A recent post from Hollywood insider MyTimeToShineHello suggests that Avengers: Doomsday will shift the villain’s core wound from losing his mother, to losing his wife and child. It also seems to provide a brand new reason as to why the character dons his iconic mask.
“Victor Von Doom’s wife and son were killed in an accident, and Victor himself was injured and his body damaged. He traced the cause of the accident to Steve [Rogers] going back in time, and now he’s after him to avenge his family.”
How Doctor Doom Lost His Family
This rumor actually lines up with previous reports that have found their way out about Doctor Doom’s new origin in Avengers: Doomsday. Specifically, another post from MyTimeToShineHello that reveals Steve Rogers caused the incursions currently plaguing the MCU, which in turn is tied to Doctor Doom’s motivations in the film.
Putting these two reports together, it seems as though Doctor Doom will lose his wife and child in an incursion prior to the events of Avengers: Doomsday, setting him on a quest for revenge against Steve Rogers. It’s certainly an interesting take on the villain’s origin, one that ties closely to the larger storyline of the MCU. However, given the current track record of the rumor mill, fans may want to wait and see if it actually comes true.
