‘Marvel Rivals’ Reveals New Team-Based Shooter To Rival ‘Overwatch’

Marvel Rivals ROCKS the internet!

Marvel Rivals competitive team based shooter Overwatch 6v6

Is Marvel finally cooking with its video games? The internet has been shocked by the reveal of the new Marvel Rivals game.

It’s no secret that superhero games have been struggling recently, especially when it comes to Marvel. Marvel’s Avengers was a massive flop, Midnight Sons sold horribly, and Spider-Man 2 disappointed many hardcore fans of the first game with the direction it took its story.

However, it seems Marvel has finally turned around its gaming division. The company recently revealed Marvel Rivals, a competitive 6v6 team-based shooter developed by NetEase Games. The game has drawn comparisons to Overwatch due to its gameplay structure and art style, though still seems to have enraptured fans across the globe. The full trailer can be seen below.

Marvel Rivals Brings The Heat In Its Roster

Marvel Rivals has an incredibly strong roster of characters coming out of the gate. 12 heroes are confirmed for the starting roster. This includes Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Magik, Luna Snow, Loki, Dr. Strange, Namor, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Hulk, Black Panther, and Peni Parker. These characters will also be available to play during the game’s upcoming alpha test.

The trailer confirms six other characters coming down the pipeline. This includes Star-Lord, Mantis, The Punisher, Magneto, Storm, and the Scarlet Witch. It’s unclear if these characters will be available in the base roster of Marvel Rivals despite not being in the alpha test, or if these six will be held back for the first season following the game’s launch.

While a fantastic roster from a diversity standpoint, there are some glaring omissions. Not a single incarnation of iconic characters like Hawkeye or Captain America are present in the roster. In addition, teams like The Fantastic Four and The Defenders have been completely left out to dry. Though given Marvel Rivals is hoping to stick around for years to come, it’s likely some of these characters are being held back to coincide with MCU releases.

Marvel Rivals will have an alpha test this May. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel games and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
