Will Kang the Conqueror ever return? A rumor reveals Marvel’s plans for the formerly headlining villain leading into the next phase of the MCU.
At one point in time, Kang the Conqueror was set to be the new face of the MCU. If everything in the Multiverse Saga went to plan, it’s possible that the villain could have been up there with Thanos, Ultron, and Loki as a defining feature of the franchise. However, following the arrest and conviction of actor Jonathan Majors, Marvel quickly changed course.
While Doctor Doom is set to be Marvel’s Golden Boy for the next few years, the question of Kang the Conqueror is still on the mind of some inquiring fans. Namely, how the villain’s story may continue in future installments of the MCU. Even though Jonathan Majors isn’t likely to come back to the role, some still believe that his storyline may be salvaged on a much smaller stage in the franchise.
The Future Of Kang The Conqueror
Some insight into this question was given thanks to a recent rumor from Alex Perez at the Cosmic Circus. Sadly, things aren’t looking good for Kang the Conqueror fans. The scooper reveals that Marvel has “shelved” the character until further notice, suggesting that the villain won’t show up for at least a few phases, if ever again, in the MCU.
While it’s understandable that Marvel would want to stray away from a character so tied to a controversial actor, it’s also a shame for fans who saw the potential that Kang the Conqueror had. The MCU has historically managed to refine and redefine villains with complicated backstories into true tour de forces; a treatment that Kang the Conqueror certainly needed.
