Some fans couldn’t help but draw comparisons between Tatiana Maslany’s She-Hulk and Shrek, a comparison that made its way into the fifth episode of Marvel’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

Big, green and brought to life with the magic of CGI – these shared characteristics were enough fuel for the meme-happy internet to start comparing Marvel’s She-Hulk and Dreamworks’ Shrek. Early teasers for She-Hulk showed some less-than-perfect CG renditions of the character, which prompted fans to note a certain similarity to the animated ogre.

Now those comparisons have made their way into She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, with the show’s own influencer-turned-supervillain Titania joining in with the Shrek jokes.

‘Nice Suit, Shrek!’

The fifth episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, “Mean, Green, and Straight Poured into These Jeans,” sees Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters facing Jameela Jamil’s Titania in court in order to contend the copyright to the name “She-Hulk.”

As She-Hulk enters the courtroom, Titania looks over to her and greets her by saying “Nice suit, Shrek.” Given the fact the supervillain has been cast as a social media influencer in the Disney Plus series, seeing her engage with the real-life comments comparing She-Hulk and Shrek helps sell her as a character who lives online.

It’s possible the Shrek line was added into the episode after the early She-Hulk trailers had been released and garnered such comparisons. However, it’s also possible that the line was in there before fans saw any footage of She-Hulk – it’s not a huge leap to compare two big green characters.

While She-Hulk triumphed over Titania in court, it seems likely the two will clash again – probably outside of a courtroom – before Marvel’s latest Disney Plus series is over.
