Is Superman actually good? Head of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige reveals what he thought about the recent reboot of the character helmed by James Gunn.

James Gunn has had quite the interesting career trajectory. Back in 2012, he was simply brought on as the director to helm a script Marvel Studios had lying around about a group of unknown space rogues. Over a decade later, he’s become perhaps the most well-known film maker in the world of comic books. Not only was he in charge of the most recent Superman reboot, but he is now the equivalent of Kevin Feige over at DC Studios.

One might assume the runaway success of James Gunn might leave some bad blood between him and Kevin Feige. After all, there was a time that he was the biggest hitmaker for Marvel Studios. Now, the writer and director is working for the competition, with his Superman reboot absolutely souring past anything the MCU has put out in quite some time when it comes to critical and box office reception.

Kevin Feige Speaks Out On Superman

Kevin Feige recently sat down with The Wrap to speak on the current state of Marvel Studios as the franchise officially enters into its sixth phase. While a lot of details about upcoming productions were sprinkled inside, most fans were interested to see what the producer thought about Superman. It seems that he thoroughly enjoyed the reboot, remarking that he has been in pretty consistent communication with James Gunn about the project.

“I liked it…I texted James and I liked a lot,” Feige explained. “I’d love to just jump right into it. You don’t know who Mr. Terrific is, though. You’ll figure it out. No, this is a, this is a fully fleshed-out world. It was great, and that is what I want people to remember.”

In a world where it seems like every company is out for blood to become the last one standing, it is a refreshing change of pace to see what there’s no bad blood between Marvel Studios and the newly formed DC Studios. A rising tide raises all ships, and it’s possible Kevin Feige sees the success of James Gunn’s Superman reboot as a good sign to come for the franchise’s upcoming releases. At th every least, it means a big screen crossover is much more likely!
