Marvel Studios revealed at San Diego Comic-Con what the next big saga for the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be called.

For over a decade, Marvel Studios had been building towards the final battle against Thanos, with their first twenty-three films falling under The Infinity Saga. Marvel Studios began ushering in a new era post-Avengers: Endgame with WandaVision, their first series, and the launch of Phase Four.

All Roads Lead to Kang…

With the current state of Phase Four, Marvel fans have been wondering what the MCU was building toward next. Many have correctly guessed that Jonathan Majors’ Kang would serve as the next over-arching antagonist in the MCU, who will make his debut in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania after first appearing as He Who Remains in Loki.

During their San Diego Comic-Con panel, Marvel Studios announced the next era of the MCU will be called The Multiverse Saga. The new saga will take place over the course of four years, as opposed to the decade it took to make it through The Infinity Saga. Marvel’s Multiverse Saga will also conclude with Avengers: Secret Wars, hitting theaters on November 7, 2025.

Here is the synopsis for Marvel’s most recent film, Thor: Love and Thunder:

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, the Thor solo film stars Chris Hemsworth, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Taika Waititi, Russell Crowe, Natalie Portman, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper.
