Marvel Studios Actively Developing Next ‘Spider-Man’ Film With Sony

Spider-Man will return...

Tom Holland Spider-Man Marvel Studios Sony Kevin Feige

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige confirmed they are already working with Sony on the next Spider-Man film.

Major spoilers ahead for Spider-Man: No Way Home!

Spider-Man: No Way Home left Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in a Marvel Cinematic Universe where nobody knows of his secret identity and a classic suit ripped from the comics. It’s already been alluded to that Holland will suit up for another trilogy, but it’s always up-in-the-air if Marvel Studios will be involved on another Sony film.

The good news is Kevin Feige told The New York Times that work on another MCU Spider-Man film for Sony with Marvel Studios as producers is already in development:

“Amy and I and Disney and Sony are talking about — yes, we’re actively beginning to develop where the story heads next, which I only say outright because I don’t want fans to go through any separation trauma like what happened after “Far From Home” [the previous Spider-Man movie, in 2019]. That will not be occurring this time.”

Sony Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal then referenced the end of No Way Home and teased the exciting possibilities that lie ahead:

“At the end of the movie we just made, you see Spider-Man make a momentous decision, one that you’ve never seen him make before. It’s a sacrifice. And that gives us a lot to work with for the next film.”

Here is the synopsis for Marvel Studios and Sony’s Spider-Man: No Way Home:

“For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero’s identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk. When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse.”

Directed by Jon Watts from a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, No Way Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Martin Starr, J.B. Smoove, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Benedict Wong, Benedict Cumberbatch, Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, and Jamie Foxx, with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield heavily rumored to appear.
