The Thunderbolts are finally making their way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe! The first trailer for Thunderbolts officially premiered at San Diego Comic-Con.
Marvel fans have been keeping a close eye on the production of Thunderbolts. The film is one of the most perplexing ever announced by the studio, and not much is known about the project outside of rumors, such as the Sentry being the main villain. It was the internet’s hope that some of these questions would be alleviated at San Diego Comic-Con.
That hope has officially been fulfilled. The first trailer for Thunderbolts has been released by Marvel following its premiere at a Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con. The footage gives fans their first look at the super team, as well as the high-flying actions that fans were hoping for in the upcoming film.
The Thunderbolts Comic-Con Footage Description
The Comic-Con trailer reveals some interesting details about Thunderbolts. The footage shows Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova visiting the apartment of David Harbour’s Red Guardian, calling him dad and saying that her only reason for living is to kill others. Joining them is Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost, who Marvel decided to give a brand new costume.
The Thunderbolts seemingly aren’t a team in the new footage. Instead, the Marvel anti-heroes are all separately assigned the same job. While it’s not confirmed what that job is, rumors point to it being a hit against The Sentry, who’ll turn out to be the main villain of the project.
The footage also featured the return of Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, a.k.a. Val. The character, who was last seen during the events of Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, was featured in a scene set at the Avengers Tower.
The Sentry, aka Robert Reynolds, is one of the most nuanced characters in Marvel comics. The character gained powers as the result of a government experiment to create a new super soldier. However, those experiments also gave him a dark alter ego known as the Void, a side that reliable insiders have suggested will be explored throughout Thunderbolts.
Thunderbolts is currently set to hit theaters on May 2, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
