Is Marvel Zombies dead in the water? A rumor reveals whether or not the series will land a season 2 order or return to the land of the dead.
Marvel Zombies is a bit of an odd duck when it comes to the franchise’s Disney Plus offerings. Many assumed that it would be a self-contained mini-series that would return to and expand upon the undead storyline started in What If…?. However, now that the series is out, it’s clear that the writers of the show were angling for the project to have a season 2.
This is especially interesting given the reaction to the series. While not as wholly divisive as What If…? season 3, the reaction to Marvel Zombies has been rather lukewarm at best- with many fans considering the series a mixed back. And given the current reputation of Marvel on Disney Plus, it’s not clear if the studio would want to greenlight anything less than a smash hit for a season 2.
Is Marvel Zombies Getting A Season 2?
DanielRPK gave some insight into this conundrum with a recent humor he posted on social media. The scooper explained that Marvel Zombies is, in fact, angled to make its return for season 2. There’s currently no word on when this reported season 2 would be released. However, given they likely haven’t even started writing it, it’s not likely to be due out until late 2027 at the earliest.
This rumor lines up with other reports that have come out surrounding Marvel Zombies. Specifically, that the viewership numbers for the series were actually pretty solid. Given watch time now reigns supreme in the age of streaming, it’s not shocking that the project was renewed for season 2 on that data alone.
