Amazon finally has its He-Man! Nicholas Galitzine has been cast as Prince Adam in the upcoming Masters of the Universe reboot at MGM Studios.
It seems as though He-Man will finally be making his way to the silver screen! After literal decades of turmoil, a new Masters of the Universe film is finally off the ground. Perhaps nothing is a better indication of this than Nicholas Galitzine being cast as Prince Adam himself, taking on the leading role as the defender of Eternia.
Nicholas Galitzine will be joined by Bumblebee director Travis Knight, who will helm the film for Amazon MGM Studios. Masters of the Universe is being written by Chris Butler, eyeing a release date of June 5, 2026. It seems He-Man will have to fight Supergirl at the box office!
The Infamous Development Of Masters Of The Universe
The first Masters of the Universe movie came out in 1987 and starred action icon Dolph Lundgren. This movie is largely considered to be horrible, and sent He-Man into franchise limbo for 40 years. A live-action reboot was tackled by dozens of writers and directors, including John Stevenson, John M. Chu, and Aaron and Adam Nee, though it ultimately went nowhere.
This current incarnation of a Masters of the Universe movie started at Warner Bros. and Sony. The project was eventually saved by Netflix. However, last year it was announced that Netflix had killed the movie despite already sinking $30 million into it. Yet, He-Man has now found new life at Amazon MGM Studios, with Nicholas Galitzine taking on the titular role.
