Penguin Won’t Be The Only Villain In Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’

The Penguin won’t be the only iconic villain to appear in Matt Reeves’ upcoming standalone film The Batman, Heroic Hollywood has learned.

The rumor suggesting The Penguin will be featured as an antagonist in Reeves’ upcoming standalone Batman film has begun to swirl again today. The Penguin has been long-rumored to appear in the film and while the inclusion of Oswald Cobblepot in the script is indeed the case, an insider with knowledge of the project has confirmed that Reeves’ script for The Batman features another villain besides The Penguin, however, this character’s identity remains under wraps.

Plot details for The Batman are under lock and key, though the project has been rumored to be centered on a younger Caped Crusader. Reeves himself has confirmed that the film will not be directly based on Frank Miller’s Year One comic.

After delivering the first draft of the script in September, Reeves turned in a rewrite of the script last month. A recent rumor claimed this rewrite was in an effort to inject more action into the standalone film, however, this has yet to be confirmed. As for when production on the project could get underway, recent reports from the trades suggest the studio is targeting November to begin filming. Ben Affleck’s return as the Caped Crusader in the film remains uncertain.
