RUMOR: Matt Reeves To Introduce New Joker In ‘The Batman’ Sequel

Matt Reeves Robert Pattinson The Batman The Joker

A new rumor suggests Matt Reeves is looking to introduce a new version of The Joker in his sequel to The Batman.

As fans already know, Matt Reeves’ The Batman will introduce a number of villains for Robert Pattinson’s Caped Crusader to go up against. While Zoe Kravitz’s Catwoman and Paul Dano’s Riddler will take center stage in the film, Colin Farrell said he doesn’t have “much to do” as The Penguin. The notable exception from The Batman is the Clown Prince of Crime, but a new rumor from The Direct indicates a brand new version of The Joker will make his debut in a sequel to the Robert Pattinson film.

According to The Direct contributor Daniel Richtman, Matt Reeves is looking to introduce a completely fresh take on the villain so he can appear in the second and third films in the director’s new trilogy. The rumor also suggests that while The Joker won’t appear in The Batman, he’ll be teased ahead of his arrival in the sequel. Richtman also said casting for the role hasn’t begun, but the internet has had plenty of ideas of the years, with fans suggesting notable actors like Johnny Depp, Macauley Culkin and Bill Skarsgard to pick up the Joker mantle.

Who do you think should play The Joker in Matt Reeves’ The Batman sequel? Should the new trilogy avoid the villain completely? Sound-off in the comments below!

Full plot details on The Batman are being kept under wraps, but we know that the film will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and features a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that includes Catwoman, The Penguin, and The Riddler. Following the Dark Knight during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector, The Batman will also make use of the hero’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous live-action adaptations. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new trilogy with Robert Pattinson as Batman.

Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.

The Batman is currently set to hit theaters on October 1, 2021. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on Robert Pattinson and Joker and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
