The Batman director and co-writer Matt Reeves says he would love to bring Hush into his universe.
After he signed on to direct The Batman, filmmaker Matt Reeves showcased his commitment to the character and the lore of Gotham City when it was announced that HBO Max spin-offs centered on the Gotham City Police Department and the Penguin (Colin Farrell) were in the works. With the introduction of numerous villains as well as potential upcoming adversaries for the Caped Crusader to come in the future, some are wondering what other villains Matt Reeves could incorporate in an upcoming sequel.
While promoting the movie, Matt Reeves participated in a Q&A with Twitter Movies in which he was asked about what villains he would love to bring into his sequels. In response, Matt Reeves revealed that he would be interested in bringing Hush to the big screen:
“There are so many, and, I dunno… I think Hush is a really interesting one to do. I’ll say Hush. But that doesn’t mean that the next one will be Hush!”
Created by Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee, Dr. Thomas Elliott AKA Hush made his debut in January 2003 as part of the 12-issue storyline Batman: Hush. Portrayals of Hush onscreen include Cole Vallis and Gordon Winarick as the young version of Hush in Gotham, as well as Gabriel Mann in the Arrowverse show Batwoman.
It would be interesting to see who would play Hush in a future sequel to The Batman directed by Matt Reeves. After all, for those who have seen the film, the tone set in this version of Gotham City would make Hush a perfect fit in this world. It would also depend on who Matt Reeves would have in mind to bring Hush to life in cinematic form.
Here is the synopsis for Matt Reeves’ The Batman:
Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman (Robert Pattinson), striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies — Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), Lt. James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) — amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens.
When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepot/aka the Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), and Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler (Paul Dano). As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.
Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
