Is Miles Morales gearing up for an MCU Debut? A new rumor suggests that Sony is bringing the character into live-action following Avengers: Secret Wars.
It has become a running joke in the Marvel fandom that Sony is suffering from Charlie Brown disease. In an attempt to make their own superhero universe to rival the MCU, the studio keeps lining themselves up to kick the blockbuster football with their villain universe, only for it to be yanked away at the last minute as their movies bomb.
This has led many to wonder why Sony hasn’t just made their own franchise with any of the literally infinite Spider-Man variants that they own. Luckily, it seems they are finally doing just that. In a new rumor from The Cosmic Circus, the studio is learning their lesson by putting a Miles Morales live-action project into production, with it set to his theaters after the MCU finishes its Multiverse Saga in Avengers: Secret Wars.
“Reasons why, is Miles (according to information I currently have, so please take this with a grain of salt) is going to be set in a rebooted Sony Universe that’s set to be established after Secret Wars.”
Will Miles Morales Appear In The MCU?
Many may question why Sony would bring Miles Morales into live-action only after the massive crossover event many assumed would bring him into the MCU. Putting aside outside mismanagement, there may be a theory behind the madness. Given Avengers: Secret Wars is set to be heavily inspired by the original run and not the 2015 incarnation, it’s possible that the franchise is preparing for a second, even Secret-er War in the next decade.
Tom Holland is also set to do another trilogy as Spider-Man in the MCU. It wouldn’t make sense to have both Peter Parker and Miles Morales active at the same time, especially if Marvel and Sony want to maximize their time without a reboot. Giving Miles the chance to build his own live-action brand separate from Holland’s take on the character may be the best shot the studios have at living up to the legacy set by the character.
