Mia Goth is finally joining the MCU! The star of the upcoming Blade film finally gives her thoughts on the stalled progress of the reboot.
At this point, fans know more about what has been scrapped for the Blade reboot than what is actually coming. However, the one aspect that seemed to be maintained through the film’s many, many iterations is Mia Goth’s role. Unless something drastic changes, it seems the actress is set to make her MCU debut in the upcoming film.
While she hasn’t spoken much about the reboot, Mia Goth did touch on Blade during the promotional run for Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein. During an appearance on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast, Goth admitted that she isn’t sure where the film sits currently. However, she is confident that the film will get made eventually.
“I mean, I don’t know what’s going on with that. I think that they want to make it. It’s such an important film for them, they’re taking their time with it. I really don’t have any information. I don’t know why it’s taken the time that it has. We will see.”
Mia Goth’s Role In Blade
Mia Goth continued on about the Blade film, explaining the process of landing her role in the reboot. It seemed the MCU spared no expense in making sure that the actress had chemistry with the film’s star, Mahershala Ali. However, the incarnation of the film Goth auditioned for seems to have come apart in the months following.
“Yeah, the furthest it got with me…I auditioned for that. I flew to Atlanta, we did a chemistry test between Mahershala and I. We did a costume fitting and a wig fitting. I was very excited for the direction it was going. It was very cool. Mahershala had such an interesting take on it. It was great. And then it just unraveled from there, unfortunately.”
Funnily enough, it’s likely that fans have already seen the costume Mia Goth would have worn for her MCU role, as many costumes from the original concept of the Blade reboot were actually used during the production of Sinners. Though with Marvel now having a clear schedule for the Mutant Saga, here’s to hoping the film finally sees the light of day.
Blade is no longer on the production schedule for the MCU. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
