Michael B Jordan played coy when asked about a potential return as Killmonger in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
One of the many great things about Black Panther was Michael B Jordan’s performance as Erik Killmonger, a military veteran turned mercenary who had a bone to pick with Wakanda’s royalty. Jordan’s performance as Killmonger was highly praised for being multi-layered and blurring the lines between what a villain really is. Fans have been eager to see the character return despite his passing at the end of the first film.
Of course, Marvel is Marvel, and things are never absolute in a universe with a talking tree and a purple alien with an obsession with genocide. With Black Panther: Wakanda Forever currently filming, fans have been wondering is Michael B Jordan will reprise his role for the upcoming sequel, just as he did for Marvel Studios’ animated series What If…?
In a new interview with MTV Movies, Michael B Jordan remained coy when asked about a potential Marvel return. While Jordan’s comments don’t confirm his return, it wouldn’t be surprising if Killmonger returned via a flashback in the upcoming sequel.
“Man, I mean, I think it’s a character and a world that I love so much. Who knows? But as we all know, Marvel has their plans and their things, and who knows how things are gonna shake out?”
Here is the synopsis for the first film:
After the death of his father, the king of Wakanda, young T’Challa returns home to the isolated high-tech African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king – and Black Panther – is tested when he’s drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, he must release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.
Directed by Ryan Coogler, the film stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis.
