Michael B. Jordan can be seen sporting Superman’s iconic costume in a new concept design that shows the actor becoming Val-Zod to replace Henry Cavill’s Kal-El.
Val-Zod is DC’s Superman on Earth 2, a reality where Clark Kent died and his fellow Kryptonian Val-Zod stepped up to take his place as the Man of Steel. There has been much talk around the possibility of the character coming to the big screen in a project currently being developed by J.J. Abrams and Ta-Nehisi Coates.
Michael B. Jordan’s name has often come up as a strong contender to play the role of Val-Zod. This new concept artwork shows what Jordan may look like in the role.
Michael B. Jordan Is DC’s New Superman
The concept design, shared on Instagram by artist “apexform” shows Michael B. Jordan donning Val-Zod’s distinctive blue and silver take on Superman’s costume.
There has recently been talk of Henry Cavill returning to the DCEU as Superman. With Cavill playing DC’s classic Kal-El version of the character, there would certainly be room for both him and Michael B. Jordan to appear as alternate universes’ incarnations of the Man of Steel.

With much of DC Films’ future plans now in question, as Warner Bros. Discovery plots a new course for their DC output, it is not clear when the J.J. Abrams-produced Superman movie will materialize or what form it may take. However, should DC choose to start exploring alternate realities, Michael B. Jordan certainly looks well-suited to follow in Henry Cavill’s Kryptonian footsteps.
Superman was last seen in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Here is the synopsis:
“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”
Zack Snyder’s Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J.K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
