Creed and Black Panther star Michael B Jordan recently discussed the Superman rumors before giving an update on his Static Shock project.

After news arrived that a Superman reboot is on the way from J.J. Abrams and Ta-Nehisi Coates, reports claimed that Michael B Jordan could star as Val-Zod in the upcoming project. But the Black Panther star is more excited by what he can actually talk about; ushering a live-action Static Shock movie into the world. He explained to Collier that it’s incredibly important to help deliver much needed representation to younger audiences, explaining that he’s currently working on “building that out.”

“Right now we have a writer, Randy McKinnon, who’s putting together take and a draft right now, really excited … I mean, again, as a kid growing up, watching Static Shock, it was something that inspired me. And had that type of representation at a young age, it was really important to me. And I know it would be important to a lot of other kids today. So to be able to adapt the live-action version of that, I’m really, really excited about. So no real timelines, and I guess no real updates or anything like that. But we’re in the process of building that out. And I can’t wait to have something more to tell you guys later.”

When the topic of Superman came up in the Collider interview, Michael B Jordan reiterated his previous comments – explaining that he’s humbled at how his name keeps cropping up in relation to huge characters like these. He didn’t directly talk about the upcoming J.J. Abrams reboot, but just said that whoever gets the role “it’s definitely one to look for.” Take a look below.

“I mean, I’m flattered that I keep coming up in conversation in these rumors to play characters like that. I mean, as you know, I’ve been rumored to play so many different characters over the years. I mean, at this point, it’s flattering, I’m humbled by it. And whoever ends up stepping into that role, it’s definitely one to look for.”

Henry Cavill’s Superman can currently be seen in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Here’s the official synopsis for the movie:

“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”

Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
