Following the cancellation of the DC Extended Universe film Batgirl, co-director Adil El Arbi took to his official Instagram story to share his gratitude for a select group of people that have reached out to him and his co-director Bilall Fallah after the news dropped. In his Instagram story, he also shared a behind-the-scenes photo featuring Michael Keaton suited up as his version of Batman.
The photo, which you can see below, showcases Leslie Grace’s Batgirl and Michael Keaton‘s Batman together:
Batman will still return.
Batgirl as originally set to hit HBO Max later this year. Given its inclusion of both J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon and Michael Keaton as Batman, it was likely that it would be released after The Flash hit theaters. Keaton will still appear in that film, which looks to hit theaters next June, after being delayed from its November 2022 release date.
Batgirl was set to feature Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon, as well as J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, Brendan Fraser as Firefly, and Keaton as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Keaton is still set to reprise his role as his version of the Caped Crusader in the upcoming film, The Flash.
In addition to Ezra Miller and Michael Keaton The Flash also features Ben Affleck as Batman, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Antje Traue as Faora-Ul and Sasha Calle as Supergirl. Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Rudy Mancuso, and Luke Brandon Field are also on board in undisclosed roles.
The Flash opens on June 23, 2023. Be sure to continue following Heroic Hollywood for all the latest news from the Batgirl cancellation, the future of Batman, and more. Also, subscribe to our YouTube channel for more original video content.
