After 31 years since last donning his cape for Batman Returns, Michael Keaton is set to return as the Dark Knight for The Flash. To commemorate the event, McFarlane Toys has revealed a brand new 12-inch statue of the hero available for preorder.
Batman has never been a stranger to merchandise, so it’s no wonder that if McFarlane Toys was only able to create two statues for the upcoming film, he would be an obvious choice, especially as it has been so long since Keaton’s version of the character has been on the silver screen. A look at the new statue can be seen below:
McFarlane Toys has been a prominent player in comic book figures since the ’90s when founder Todd McFarlane, best known for his creation of the anti-hero Spawn, grew dissatisfied with the quality of Mattel’s figures based on his properties, leading him to create McFarlane Toys. Despite their prominence, their acquisition of the rights to create statues based on DC Comics characters only happened in February of 2019.
Who else is attached to the Flash movie?
Directed by Andy Muschietti from a script written by Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson, The Flash is inspired by the Flashpoint comic book storyline, which followed Barry Allen as he navigated an altered DC Universe. Written by Geoff Johns and penciled by Andy Kuber, Flashpoint radically altered the status of the DC Comics universe and led to the launch of the New 52 titles.
