One of the improvements that Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has over its predecessor is the use of Yondu (Michael Rooker). Yondu was an enjoyable-enough character in the first film, much of which is thanks to the charm Michael Rooker displays. But in Vol. 2, not only do we get more from Yondu, but his arc in the film might be the most satisfying of the ensemble.
We already know that the Guardians of the Galaxy will share the big screen with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Avengers: Infinity War. The two teams will collide to fight against the existential threat that the Mad Titan Thanos (Josh Brolin) plans to unleash into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It is currently unknown if Yondu will be joining the fight for Avengers: Infinity War, but Rooker has made teases on his Instagram account while in a makeup room in Atlanta. In an interview with ScreenCrush, Matt Singer asked Rooker if he would be involved in the film:
Matt Singer: All right, last question. I’ve seen on your Instagram account you sort of teasing; hanging around in Atlanta, wearing Avengers Infinity War hats and so on. Will we see Yondu again?
Michael Rooker: What do you mean teasing?
Matt Singer: Well, you’re wearing hats with names on them. You’re covering the logo, but not very well.
Michael Rooker: I know. It’s fun stuff, isn’t it? I don’t know if that’s true or real life, you know? I love hats and every now and then someone will come up to me and put a piece of tape over me. That’s all I can say.
Matt Singer: Okay, so the answer is “I love hats”?
Michael Rooker: I love hats.
Obviously, Rooker won’t confirm nor deny potential involvement in Avengers: Infinity War. The film is still well over a year away from hitting theaters, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is just about to hit American theaters this week.
Whether or not we will be seeing Yondu in Avengers: Infinity War when that hits theaters on May 4, 2018, you can still see him when Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 blasts into theaters on May 5, 2017.
