Michael Rosenbaum almost had a larger role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe! The actor speaks on the scrapped plans for Martinex in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
The Ravagers have always been one of the most interesting parts of the MCU. The team is filled with superstar actors like Michael Rosenbaum as Martinex and Sylvester Stallone as Starhawk. However, they mostly served small cameo roles in the Guardians of the Galaxy films.
Yet it seems James Gunn originally had bigger plans for the team. When speaking about his role as Martinex, Michael Rosenbaum admitted that the Ravagers had a lot of material that was cut from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. This includes a scene where the character was finally set to show off his powers in the MCU.
“I mean, the role was supposed to be a lot bigger. They cut a lot out,” Rosenbaum explained to ComicBook.com. “Well, you were supposed to see, it was written in the script to see Martinex’s powers, which were really cool.”
Michael Rosenbaum Reflects On His Role As Martinex
It’s unclear exactly what part The Ravagers and Martinex could have played in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 beyond what they already contributed. However, it seems Michael Rosenbaum has no qualms about his minor part in the MCU as a whole.
“It was fun,” The actor continued. “For me it’s like, I’m working with my friends, I get paid, I’m in a big Marvel movie, life could suck worse. You know what I mean? I’m very grateful.”
It’s good to hear that Michael Rosenbaum isn’t salty about not having the most to do in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The project was one of the most packed in the entire MCU, so it’s possible The Ravagers and Martinex could have made things far too busy for James Gunn’s taste. Let’s just hope he can return to the part for a cameo in a Disney Plus series!
