‘Avengers’: Michael Waldron Working On Both ‘Kang Dynasty’ & ‘Secret Wars’

Writers, assemble!

Avengers: Secret Wars Marvel Studios

Fans are in for a Multiverse of Madness! One of Loki‘s producers seemingly confirms Doctor Strange 2 scribe Michael Waldron is working on both Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars.

Fans speculated that Michael Waldron may have more to do with Marvel’s plans for the multiverse than they let on after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It seems that’s true, with Loki producer Kevin Wright confirming Michael Waldron’s involvement in both Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars:

“As far as where it’s all going, I can’t say and not because I am being coy, we’re not a part of those projects,” Wright tells ComicBook.com. “What I would say is, I mean, I know Michael Waldron is working on them and he loves obviously this world as he helped create it.”

“And no, I mean the threat that we establish at the end of this is Multiversal war will come. Sylvie is just saying, ‘Let us have a chance.’ So I hope that people continue to run with that because I would love to see what that story is.”

Many fans also think this may confirm that Jeff Loveness is ousted from writing Avengers: Kang Dynasty. However, most films these days have multiple writers, so Michael Waldron may simply be assisting the Quantumania writer. Given how closely the films are connected, it only makes sense Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars share their writers.

The future of the Avengers franchise

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is the first movie in a two-part finale to Marvel’s Multiverse Saga. It will be followed by Avengers: Secret Wars, rounding out Marvel Studios’ Phase 6. Both films are scheduled to arrive in theaters in 2025.

Destin Daniel Cretton recently made the decision to step down from his role as the director of the upcoming Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. However, Destin Daniel Cretton’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty departure is not an exit from the Marvel family but rather a realignment of his directorial commitments as he’s focused on Wonder Woman and Shang-Chi 2.

Secret Wars is a crossover event that will bring together characters from all across the Marvel multiverse, so Iron Man’s experience and leadership will be invaluable to the Avengers. Michael Waldron is set to write the upcoming Marvel Studios film Avengers: Secret Wars, but a director has yet to be announced.
