Luke Cage may actually be on his way back! Mike Colter has confirmed that he’s spoken with Marvel Studios about making a return as the Hero for Hire.
While most of social media is focused on rumors about what Marvel Studios plans’ are for Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the truly dedicated have only one question on their minds: if Jessica Jones is set to return in Daredevil: Born Again, does that mean there’s a chance Mike Colter could come back as Luke Cage?
The conversation about whether or not Mike Colter will reprise his role as Luke Cage is one of the most well-trodden in any Marvel Studios project. Colter himself has answered the question dozens of times, often wavering between optimism for his return and deciding to put the role behind him. Though, recently, the news has been skewing positive.
Is Mike Colter Back As Luke Cage?
Mike Colter once again addressed the elephant in the room during a recent appearance on Shawn Stockman’s On That Note podcast. When asked about a potential return as Luke Cage, the actor revealed that he has had conversations with Marvel Studios about coming back to the role. However, he stopped short of giving official confirmation that he was back.
“Listen, I will say this…I’ve had conversations, and I’ll leave it at that.” Colter explains “I love the fans and I love that world. And so it’s been years now. So now like, I’m doing other projects, but now I think to myself, ‘I have some unfinished business there’”
“…I think Daredevil’s back, Jessica’s back, we’re in a better position to see this come into fruition faster then we think. Yeah, so, we’ll see.”
Given Krysten Ritter was in talks to return as Jessica Jones for years before officially appearing in Daredevil: Born Again, it’s possible that Mike Colter is set to reprise his role as Luke Cage- but the filming schedule just hasn’t allowed him to put that into action. Though, given Marvel Studios is running low on announcements for 2027, it may be the news they need to keep them in the public eye this summer.
