Bryan Singer Confirms Mister Sinister For ‘Wolverine 3’

Mr. Sinister

Wolverine 3 will be the final time that Hugh Jackman portrays the titular character. To many fans, Hugh Jackman practically IS Wolverine, and seeing him go is not going to be easy. However, since Jackamn leaving is inevitable, at least we can find comfort in knowing that Fox seems to be going all out for his final venture.

Besides a confirmed R-rating for the film, and rumors of X-23, Wolverine’s female clone, showing up, we now officially know who the film’s villain (or at least, one of the villains) will be. X-Men: Apocalypse released on DVD and Blu-Ray recently, and with it came some commentary audio from director Bryan Singer.

During the post-credits scene of the film, which features a briefcase from “Essex Corp”, Singer confirmed what many fans already assumed- the Essex Corp namedrop was indeed a reference to Mr. Sinister. Not only did he confirm that Apocalypse referenced Mr. Sinister, but he also confirmed the villain for an appearance in Wolverine 3!

For those who don’t know, Mr. Sinister is a mutant from the X-Men comic books. As you can probably tell by his name, he isn’t on the side of justice. He’s a scientific genius with quite a few mutant abilities, ranging from shape-shifting, to teleportation, to telepathy. Mr. Sinister actually gets his powers from experimenting on other mutants and their DNA, which is probably why Essex Corp henchmen were seen grabbing some of Wolverine’s blood in X-Men: Apocalypse.

Wolverine 3 has wrapped up filming, and is set to release in theaters on March 3, 2017. It will be directed by James Mangold, and star Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant, and Richard E. Grant.

Not much is known about the movie, but it’s believed that the plot will have some elements of the iconic Old Man Logan comic book storyline.

It will be interesting to see how they bring this character to life after failing repeatedly with their efforts in the solo Wolverine films.

      The Wolverine was great

      • Maximillian Pegasus

        It was okay

      • Princess Pat

Till about the last half hour when he fights a horribly CGIed mech suit version of the Silver Samurai

Well now, this will prove interesting. Sinister is definitely one of the better X-Villains (one of my faves, actually).

    So who plays Mr. Sinister?

Can’t say this excites me. Sinister is a X-Men villain not really associated with Wolverine much. Seems like they are just going to be wasting him here.

  • Origami Rose

They will probably ruin it like whatthey did to apocalypse. Singer go away.

  • PistoleGigantico

There haven’t been too many movie franchises that have really pushed me away as much as the Singer X-Men movies. I was there opening night for X-Men in 2000, and have seen them all in the theater until Last Stand. Wiping away stuff with time travel really decreases the stakes and now I can’t really care anymore.

    • Rob

Last Stand was a Brett Ratner abortion. You can’t blame Singer for that movie.

      • Princess Pat

Can’t really completely blame Ratner either. The guy came in as a 3rd confirmed director after the first two left. He essentially had one year to make the movie. So while yes he did mess it up, he wasn’t completely at fault.

      • PistoleGigantico

Thanks man, but I was more than aware. When I say Singer, i mean basically the X-Men movies in general. I lump First Class in there with the rest, too.

  • Rob

I would assume that means the Old Man Logan storyline is just a rumor and not true.

  • Princess Pat

I originally read this as “Bryan Cranston confirmed Mister Sinister in Wolverine 3” and got way more excited than I did after finding out it was just Bryan Singer.
