Morbius director Daniel Espinosa confirmed a Spider-Man does exist in Sony’s Marvel universe and teased we will find out who it is soon.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage marked the first time Spider-Man appeared in Sony’s Marvel universe. However, Tom Hardy’s Venom was quickly sent back from the MCU to his universe in the No Way Home mid-credits scene. With the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as their versions of Spider-Man, fans have been calling for Sony’s universe with Venom and Morbius to feature one of them.

According to Daniel Espinosa in a Twitter thread for Cinema Blend, the Morbius director first clarified where The Living Vampire exists in the multiverse:

Morbius lives in the same universe as Venom. This is the universe we saw Venom exit at the end of Venom: Let There Be Carnage and return to at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home.”

The Morbius director then let it slip that we will eventually learn which Spider-Man exists in Sony’s universe:

It is my understanding that audiences will discover the answer soon.”

Here is the synopsis for Morbius:

One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed and transforms this healer into a hunter.

Directed Daniel Espinosa from a script written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, the film stars Jared Leto as the lead anti-hero, Adria Arjona, Matt Smith, Jared Harris, Tyrese Gibson, and Michael Keaton. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing the project with Lucas Foster, while Palak Patel will oversee for Sony.

Morbius will hit theaters on April 1, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on Sony’s plans for the Spider-Man franchise, and subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
