A brand new set photo from the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboots gives us our first look at a classic arena from the game.

The Mortal Kombat reboot is currently filming on location in southern Australia, which is quite exciting considering we’ll be getting some very exotic looks in the film. In Australia, Todd Garner of Broken Road Productions has been giving us consistent looks at the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot. In a brand new image released by Garner, we finally have our first look at a classic arena from the original Mortal Kombat game.

The photo from the Mortal Kombat set showcases a beautiful, lush, green forrest. Many fans have been speculating that this set is in fact the Living Forest arena. In Mortal Kombat, the Living Forest arena is located in Outworld, where there are sentient trees that have faces. The arena has been featured many times in the Mortal Kombat video game series. While it hasn’t been explicitly confirmed that this set is the Living Forest, all signs point to it thanks to the green, expansive landscape. Seeing as the arena is a fan-favorite for followers of the video game, it makes sense for the writers and producers of Mortal Kombat to use it as an arena. In the arena, the sentient trees are prone to trapping fighters with their branches. If this is in fact the Living Forest, then that would be an awesome visual to see on the big screen.
