Thor: Love and Thunder star Natalie Portman seemingly confirmed the storyline for Jane Foster in the upcoming sequel.
Although fans have a long wait until Thor: Love and Thunder eventually arrives in theaters at the beginning of 2022, Jane Foster star Natalie Portman recently discussed what to expect from the film as well as how she’s preparing for the role. Chris Hemsworth previously pointed out that just because Natalie Portman will become a new version of Thor doesn’t mean that the original God of Thunder will be replaced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
When speaking to Yahoo about her upcoming book Natalie Portman was asked about the next Thor film, and although the star wasn’t allowed to discuss specifics about the story, she explained that she’s currently training to get more muscular for the role. The actress noted that the story is based on Mighty Thor before briefly discussing the fact that Jane Foster undergoes treatment for cancer as well as being a superhero. “I can’t tell you that much. I’m really excited. I’m starting to train, to get muscles. If there can be all these female superheroes, the more of them they are, the better it is. I’m trying to think — it’s based on the graphic novel of the Mighty Thor. She’s going through cancer treatment and is a superhero on the side.”

Full details on the plot for Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder are currently under wraps, though the film will be partly based on Jason Aaron’s Mighty Thor comic book run, in which Jane Foster becomes the new Thor. Directed by Taika Waititi from a script he co-wrote with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, the film stars Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, and Christian Bale.
