New ‘Blue Beetle’ Promo Sees Jaime Reyes Suiting Up

Time to suit up!

The first movie in the DC Universe is set to drop in less than a month when Blue Beetle soars into theaters. A new promo for the film showcases Jaime Reyes suiting up with the Scarab!

The Blue Beetle Scarab is one of the most inventive weapons in DC comics, and is the perfect gadget for Jaime Reyes to wield in the first DC Universe movie. While the first trailer showed it acting similar to the Venom symbiote, taking over Jaime’s body with a black goo, the newest trailer shows a much more robotic suit up scene:

Given the Scarab can literally do whatever the user imagines, its no shock Blue Beetle will feature more than one way for Jaime Reyes to suit up. Given this movie was originally meant to debut on the HBO Max streaming service, the effects look surprisingly good. Following The Flash, fans should be relieved that the first DC Universe project isn’t filled with sloppy CGI.

Who is DC’s Blue Beetle?

Blue Beetle is one of DC’s lesser-known heroes, but he has a dedicated fanbase nonetheless. Created in 1939 by Charles Wojtkowski, Blue Beetle has gone through several iterations over the years. The Jaime Reyes version of the character was introduced during the events of 2006’s Infinite Crisis and quickly became a fan-favorite.
