Game of Thrones is slowly pulling back the curtain on its sixth season, the first produced that extends beyond the published material of author George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire. Yesterday saw EW release new images and today a new 30-second trailer has premiered that expands on the previous trailer.
In the promo, there are new shots of Dany’s pilgrimage among the Dothraki, Tyrion playing “the great game” in Meereen and signs of chaos in the North, complete with burning flayed men, an angry Brienne and a fleeing Sansa. There’s a little bit more from the Tower of Joy flashback and a money shot of Wun Wun (the giant from last year’s episode “Hardhome”) breaking down the gate of Castle Black. Presumably, he’s as pissed about Jon Snow’s death as we are. Oh, and we get another glimpse of Bran’s vision of the Night’s King and it’s safe to say Bran – and all of Westeros for that matter – is not safe from him.
The sixth season of the HBO fantasy epic premieres Sunday, April 24 at 9 p.m. EST. As was previously reported, no advance screeners will be sent to critics prior, a first for the series and a rarity in television.
