‘The New Mutants’ Director Confirms Lockheed Appears In The X-Men Film

The New Mutants director Josh Boone confirmed Lockheed will appear in the upcoming X-Men film.

After multiple delays, The New Mutants is finally set to hit theaters next month and effectively mark the conclusion of 20th Century Studios’ time with the X-Men film series after two decades. Before bowing out, the long-awaited project will introduce several newcomers to the X-Men film series, including the alien dragon named Lockheed.

In the comics, Lockheed is the faithful pet companion of Kitty Pryde who has more recently been depicted as an intelligent being with a history of working with government organizations to protect his homeworld. While the character appeared to be referenced in the form of a toy belonging to a young Magik, director Josh Boone appeared to confirm that the real Lockheed will make his feature debut in the upcoming film during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

“You see a little bit of him there. I wouldn’t say too much more, but I was pleased with how we had him in the world and had him as part of Illyana’s story.”
