A new photo from Wonder Woman 1984 shows the Amazonian hero face off against Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah in Washington.

Fans got their first look at a fight between Wonder Woman and Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah in the latest issue of Empire Magazine, with the new photo highlighting the villain’s strength and endurance in the sequel. The new look at Wonder Woman 1984 comes shortly after two images from the same issue showed off Diana in her incredible Golden Eagle Armour as well as reuniting with Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor. The impressive new shot teases what to expect from the fights between Wonder Woman and Cheetah in the sequel from Patty Jenkins.

The shot from the magazine made its way onto Reddit, showing Diana battling Cheetah with her Lasso of Truth in Washington, with the villain seemingly resisting the weapon’s abilities. It isn’t clear from the image why the fight broke out, but thanks to the two injured men on the floor it seems likely that Diana is protecting them from Cheetah. Take a look at the new shot from Wonder Woman 1984 below.

The film is one of the many projects affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Originally scheduled to be released in early June, Warner Bros. opted to push the debut date to mid-August in hopes that the crisis will have abated by then and movie theaters, which have been forced to shut down, can re-open their doors.

Full details on the Wonder Woman 1984 plot are being kept under wraps, but the film is said to follow Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince as she comes into conflict with a formidable new adversary named Cheetah and businessman Maxwell Lord.

Directed by Patty Jenkins from a script she co-wrote with David Callaham and a treatment she developed with Geoff Johns, the film stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Natasha Rothwell, Ravi Patel, Gabriella Wilde, Connie Nielson, and Robin Wright.

Wonder Woman 1984 is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on August 14, 2020.
