X-Men star Nicholas Hoult recently revealed that he auditioned for his Beast role with a Family Guy impression.
Nicholas Hoult first appeared in the 2011 X-Men film, X-Men: First Class where he appeared as a young version of Hank McCoy, a.k.a. Beast. The actor would go on to reprise the role for X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse before making his final appearance as the character in Dark Phoenix. But, as it turns out, Nicholas Hoult may have gotten the Beast role due to a Family Guy impression during his audition.
While speaking to GQ, Nicholas Hoult recalled a strange request he got from X-Men: First Class director Mathew Vaughn. During the audition, the director asked the actor to do an impersonation of Stewie Griffin from Family Guy of all things, which was sent off as part of his audition. It is unclear if this was the reason the actor got the role or not:
“Matthew Vaughn asked me to do a couple of takes in an American accent as you kind of saw the character. But then also do a take doing an impression of Stewie Griffin from Family Guy. I had watched a lot of Family Guy in my teen years growing up, so I was like, ‘OK, I think I’ve got a pretty good impression of Stewie Griffin lined up,'” the actor laughed. “And so I did a whole version of the take as Stewie Griffin and sent it off. So maybe that helped me get the part? I don’t know.”

Nicholas Hoult last appeared as Beast in X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Here is the synopsis for the film:
This is the story of one of the X-Men’s most beloved characters, Jean Grey, as she evolves into the iconic DARK PHOENIX. During a life-threatening rescue mission in space, Jean is hit by a cosmic force that transforms her into one of the most powerful mutants of all. Wrestling with this increasingly unstable power as well as her own personal demons, Jean spirals out of control, tearing the X-Men family apart and threatening to destroy the very fabric of our planet. The film is the most intense and emotional X-Men movie ever made. It is the culmination of 20 years of X-Men movies, as the family of mutants that we’ve come to know and love must face their most devastating enemy yet — one of their own.
