X-Men star Nicholas Hoult wants to play mutant character Beast again for a future Marvel Cinematic Universe film.
Last year, the live-action X-Men films ended with something of a whimper with the 2019 film, X-Men: Dark Phoenix. The film was notable for having been delayed several times and was subject to several reshoots which included an entire reworking of the film’s climax. In the end the film bombed at the box office, only earning a little over $250M worldwide on what was reported to be a $200M budget with critics panning the film and fan’s being mostly indifferent. However, Beast actor Nicholas Hoult would like to play the character again in the future.
Nicholas Hoult first appeared as a younger version of Beast in X-Men: First Class. He would go on to reprise the role for X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocolypse, had a cameo appearance in Deadpool 2, before making his final appearance in X-Men: Dark Phoenix. However, Nicholas Hoult revealed in a recent interview with Variety that he would be open to playing the character again and is interested in exploring Beast’s future:
“That was a fun evolution and that’s something that I’m always looking for is how a character changes. And I think there’s a lot more to explore with that character. So I’d be interested to know where they see it going next.”
