Man of Tomorrow may be starting production sooner than fans think! Nicholas Hoult gives fans a rough start date for filming on the Superman sequel.
It’s rare for fans to get a sequel to any movie within three years, especially in the modern age of superhero cinema. However, Superman is bucking that trend in two, with its sequel Man of Tomorrow dropping in 2027. This time, the project won’t just be focusing on David Corenswet’s Man of Steel, but Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor.
James Gunn has been keeping details about Man of Tomorrow pretty close to his chest. This makes sense, given so much of Superman was leaked in either set photos or rumors prior to its release. And given how closely the sequel will likely play into his future plans for the DC Universe, especially when it comes to Nicholas Hoult’s villain, it’s likely fans won’t know much until production properly starts.
When Does Man Of Tomorrow Start Filming?
Now back on the convention circuit following the release of Superman, Nicholas Hoult made an appearance at Peru Con 25. Of course, the topic of the film’s sequel came up. When asked if there was anything he could reveal about Man of Tomorrow, the actor admitted there wasn’t, but that production on the film is set to start next April.
“I can’t reveal anything, I’d get into a lot of trouble. But we start filming in April”
This schedule lines up with what James Gunn did for the production of Superman back in 2024. In fact, there’s a few months more production time for the sequel. The original filmed almost exactly a year prior to release, whereas Man of Tomorrow has about three extra months. And given Nicholas Hoult may now need to be wearing some bulky CGI armor, that time will likely be needed!
Man of Tomorrow flies into theaters July 9th, 2027. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe!
