Is Man of Tomorrow turning out totally tubular? Nicolas Hoult teases his return as Lex Luthor in the highly-anticipated DC Universe sequel story.
There’s a lot of things to be excited about when it comes to Man of Tomorrow. The film is set to be the first sequel set fully in the new DC Universe. In addition, it’s set to feature the return of many iconic faces such as David Corenswet’s Superman, Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane, and Nicolas Hoult’s Lex Luthor. Hoult in particular is set to have a major presence in the story, being described as a deuteragonist of the film.
With production on Man of Tomorrow set for early next year, many actors are already preparing themselves to make their return to the DC Universe. Nicolas Hoult actually spoke about playing Lex Luthor in the sequel during a recent chat with Variety. And it seems one of the things he’s proudest of is joining the wide pantheon of actors to play Superman’s greatest foe.
“There’s been so many wonderful actors who’ve played Lex. So I feel honored to be another one, another name added to that list.”
Nicholas Hoult Hypes Up Man Of Tomorrow
Of course, unlike many other adaptations of Lex Luthor, Nicolas Hoult actually has a chance to return as the character for more than one project. The evolving aspects of the character is actually one of the points of praise he gives to James Gunn in the interview, hinting that the character may be going through some major changes when Man of Tomorrow fully takes form in the DC Universe.
“And I just love what James Gunn writes, how he wants to portray that character, evolve the character going forward as well. So I feel like I’m in safe hands with him, and it’s a character that I really enjoy playing. It makes me happy.”
With Man of Tomorrow likely forcing Lex Luthor to work with Superman, it’ll be interesting to see how Nicolas Hoult portrays the dynamic. The duo have had many team-ups across the DC Universe, with each having their own flare and character to it. Though one thing does seem to be certain: the film is shaping up to be a worthy sequel.
