Noah Centineo’s Masters of the Universe film has been removed from Sony’s release calendar.
Masters of the Universe was set to return to the big screen early next year with a reboot starring Noah Centineo, one of Hollywood’s most promising rising stars. Unfortunately, the Masters of the Universe reboot has been removed from Sony’s release calendar, leaving the fate of the Noah Centineo film unknown. News of Masters of the Universe getting its release date pulled came from a Sony press release, which stated that the upcoming Uncharted film would take the original March 2021 date for the Noah Centineo film.
For those feeling pessimistic, this news doesn’t indicate that the Noah Centineo film is getting scrapped or shelved. Excitement for the film is at a high and with Noah Centineo on board, the Masters of the Universe film was set to be a hit in an era where ’80s nostalgia is rampant.
The Uncharted film, which is set to star Tom Holland, has been delayed numerous time and just lost one of its directors, which obviously meant that the film would get delayed. Uncharted is now set to hit cinemas on March 3, 2021. Uncharted is a high priority for Sony as it has one of their most recognizable stars and franchise names. Seeing their slate, Sony Pictures could easily move Masters of the Universe up if they have enough faith in the Noah Centineo film. Things are currently up in the air for Masters of the Universe, a franchise that is well past due for a reboot.

Based on the Mattel franchise of the same name, Masters of the Universe centers on the conflict between He-Man, the secret identity of Prince Adam, and the villainous sorcerer Skeletor on the planet Eternia. The franchise has previously spawned an animated TV series that ran from 1983 to 1985 and 1987 live-action film starring Dolph Lundgren.
Directed by The Nee Brothers from a script written by Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, Masters of the Universe stars Noah Centineo as Prince Adam/He-Man. Sony’s Matthew Milam will oversee the project for the studio with Mattel serving as a partner on the film. Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch are producing alongside Franklin Entertainment’s DeVon Franklin.
Noah Centineo’s Master of the Universe currently doesn’t have a release date.
