‘Stranger Things’ Star Noah Schnapp Confirms Will’s Feelings For Mike

Not speculation, but confirmation!

Stranger Things Noah Schnapp

Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp officially confirmed that his character Will Byers harbors romantic feelings for Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard).

Netflix’s complete fourth season of their blockbuster series Stranger Things is available to stream, and one of the aspects of the new season that’s been subject to much discussion revolves around Will Byers (Noah Schnapp). In this season, it’s clear that Will is hiding something from everyone else, and one scene in particular in which he addresses how much Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) cares about Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard) is perhaps the biggest giveaway. The overwhelming consensus is that Will is gay, and has romantic feelings for Mike.

Well, Noah Schnapp is ready to end any fan speculation on that regard. In an interview with Variety, the Stranger Things star said the quiet part out loud, in that Will Byers is in fact gay, and this isn’t something that’s left for viewers to interpret for themselves:

“Yeah, I think it is. Obviously, it was hinted at in Season 1: It was always kind of there, but you never really knew, is it just him growing up slower than his friends? Now that he’s gotten older, they made it a very real, obvious thing. Now it’s 100% clear that he is gay and he does love Mike. But before, it was a slow arc. I think it is done so beautifully, because it’s so easy to make a character just like all of a sudden be gay. People have come up to me — I was just in Paris and this, like, 40-year-old man came up to me and he was like, ‘Wow, this Will character made me feel so good. And I related to it so much. That is exactly who I was when I was a kid.’ That just made me so happy to hear. They are writing this real character and this real journey and real struggle and they’re doing it so well.”

What’s in store for Will Byers in the final season?

Given that Noah Schnapp has confirmed Will’s feelings for Mike, it will be interesting to see how this factors into the fifth and final season of Stranger Things. Given that the character is already going to be dealing with some big threats alongside his family and friends, it will be interesting to see how this development is addressed, not just in regards to Will’s friendship with Mike, but his dynamic with the rest of the cast.

Here is the synopsis for the fourth season of Stranger Things:

“It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for the first time – and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.”

Created by the Duffer Brothers, the Netflix series stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, Cara Buono, Brett Gelman, Jamie Campbell Bower, Eduardo Franco, and Joseph Quinn.

All four seasons are available to stream on Netflix. Stay tuned for all the latest news on Stranger Things and Noah Schnapp, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
